Just Horsin's Around

I finally got around to taking pictures of one of the boys' horse riding lessons at Miracle Meadows. They love to ride and can't wait for the lesson each week. I've never seen them so excited for anything. :) The horses are amazing animals. It's wonderful to be so close to such a magnificent creation. God is such an awesome creator. As I work along side these massive animals, I can't help by say, "O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago." Isaiah 25:1

Blackberries and a Train Ride

From blackberry picking to a miniature train ride...we've already had so much fun in Charlotte, NC. The main attraction, however, is simply sharing family moments and reconnecting with our precious treasures that we like to call "Family".
Psalm 133:1 "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!"

Father's Day '09

The boys wanted to make Rick a fisherman cake. We went to buy a kit we found at Walmart, but they don't sell it anymore, so we put our heads together and the boys came up with a GREAT cake! It involved, crushed up Oreos, a bucket, a fishing pole, and LOTS of blue icing! Check out the pictures and see what you think! Rick loved it and enjoyed every bite! :)

First Post of the Summer!

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted anything since April! Where has the time gone? Anyway, lots has happened! The boys and I are keeping very busy with extra jobs around the house, they are doing a summer refresher course 4 times a week, volunteering at a local horse stable "Miracle Meadows" twice a week, going to the beach and pool at least once a week, and also just "hangin' out" with friends. Rick has been working, gardening, and working! We have pulled in some "crops" all ready, which is fun! Richard found a baby bluejay and tried to nurse it back to health to the mother bluejay's TOTAL dismay. The "help" ended with a fly-by that nearly scared Ryan to death! As far as we know...mom and baby are doing fine. Anyway, check out the collage of photos we've taken so far. I'm sure there'll be more to come. Let us know what you're up to! We'd love to hear from ya!

Santee, NC

SprBrk09

We are back from a wonderful week in Santee, NC with our precious family. It was so delightful to share and catch up with my Dad, Mimi, my sister Lynne and her family. We fished, hiked, canoed, hiked some more, and saw the beautiful wildlife of S.C. at Old Santee Canal Park. We saw Osprey, Egrits, geese, and even alligators!

All in all the trip, was a totally relaxing and fun adventure. Thanks, Dad and Mimi for the great trip and memories!

Quack! Quack! Easter's Back!

Click picture to see more photos:
Happy Easter!

The students were so excited to watch a duckling hatch during this year's Science Fair. The ducklings were scheduled to hatch March 31st. It was already April 2nd, and still no ducklings. Then, all of us sudden we hear.."They're hatching!" Sure enough a little webbed foot appeared from the cracked shell. It was such an amazing sight! The owners were now wondering what to do with the ducklings. Richard said that he knew his Dad would let him take them. Sure enough, Dad said, "Yes!" We are now the proud parents of "Chic-Chic, Yoko, and Omlet" who were so named by the original owners. The boys are having so much fun with their little feathered friends.

Science Fair 2009 Ends With Celebration!

It was an ending to 4 weeks of tours, library visits, internet searches, typing reports, experiments, making a model, and the list goes on. It ended today with the announcement that Ryan won 1st place in the 5th/6th grade category and Richard won 2nd place in the 7th/8th grade category. Driving home today, I asked the boys if it was all worth it. "Oh Yes!", was the answer. I have to quite agree. A reward of ice cream after school was promised no matter what, but it sure did seem to taste sweeter with metals around their necks. :)

This was Richard's last year to participate in the Science Fair. He won 3rd place the last two years, so winning 2nd place was an awesome reward for his final one.

We started out this day quoting 1 Thess. 5:18 which says, "Whatever happens, give thanks, because it is God's will in Christ Jesus that you do this." The boys decided that they were going to praise God no matter what, and that they were going to do it all for the glory of God. So, it's only fitting that we give God ALL the praise for today's outcome. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your loving kindness.

Richard's Water Tour

We received the pictures from the Water Facility PR person and they were too good to not share. Richard was so excited when they handed him the lab coat, some gloves, and some chemicals to test the actual water coming out of the facility. The tests were interesting and Richard said he learned a lot! He came away from the facility with a lot of knowledge and goodies. They gave him a binder full of info, a hat, a water bottle, a cup, 2 pencils, a toilet leak tester kit, and a key chain. It was so fun to see Richard interacting with the facility staff. All around it was a good day. The science fair is this Thursday and the projects are pretty much completed. We'll put on the final touches today after church and then have a BIG rest!

The Hermit Crab Miracle

Ryan's Hermit Crab, "Tiny Tim", seemed to be on his last let yesterday due to the fact that he was out of his shell and would not move. We did what most parents would do at this point, which was to prepare our son for the passing of Tiny Tim. Ryan, who refused to let Tiny Tim go, laid in his bed crying and took the matter to his Heavenly Father. When I went in to pray with Ryan before he fell asleep, he told me what he had been doing. He said, "Mom, I prayed just now, and then I started singing 'Our God is an Awesome God'. I agreed with him in prayer that God could heal Tiny Tim, but in my heart I had my doubts that God would choose to save him. Well, when Ryan woke up this morning, the first thing he did was to check to see if God had answered his prayer. AND GOD DID! Tiny Tim is safe and happy in his new shell. Ryan's face in the slide show tells it all...."We Serve An Awesome God!"

Richard Performs Chapel with Class

Richard perfomed the chapel service with his 8th grade class on Friday, March 13th.
They performed the song "Grace Like Rain" in blacklights with white gloves. Richard performs the letter "r" and the "eye". I wanted to upload the video to this blog, but it says that the file is too big. So I have uploaded the video to YouTube. Click the link below to see the chapel.

Science Fair, Walk-A-Thon, and Teenagers, OH MY!

Wow! The end of the school year rush is on! I can't believe I haven't posted anthing since January and we are now pretty much in March! Where did February go? What happened in the Postlethwaite house in February you may ask? Well...LIFE happened! And boy did it happen fast. The boys are both in the Science Fair this year. Richard's hypothesis happen unintentionally, but methodically. :) Riding in the car one day, will he was drinking a bottle of "Smart Water", he said, "You know, Mom, I bet this 'Smart Water' is just like tap water. I bet they put it from the faucet to the bottle, up the price, and sell it!" I responded as only a teacher could by saying, "Sounds like a hypothesis to me!... You could do that for Science Fair." He is so excited. I called the Onslow County Water Treatment facility and we have a tour scheduled for March 6th. It should be very interesting.

This is Ryan's first year in the Science Fair and he has decided to explore the wonder of caves. We visited the Forbidden Cavers in TN over the summer and he really enjoyed them.

Next on the agenda is the WALK-A-THON. Do I hear any pledges coming in? The boys are both attempting to win the ATV that the school has bought to raffle off to those who raise at least $800.00. So, off to pledging we go!

Rick and I are about to celebrate 17 wonderful years on March 21st. We are looking forward to that. :)

Other than school, work, and dodgeball at the gym...we are pretting much in "Normal, Everyday" life mode.

So, what's going on in your neck of the woods?

Snow Day '09

Snow Has Arrived in Richlands!

Snow09

The boys had fun in the snow, which included an extra day off of school, a snowball fight and some hot chocolate. We also snuggled inside to thaw out and watch the inauguration, which is a first for us, since we are usually at school during the ceremony.

The boys are hoping the snow will last, but forcasters are predicting a warmer day tomorrow... Sorry boys. Looks like we're back to school tomorrow!

The snow is a lot thicker than this morning! Wow! I don't know when we've had this much snow!

Check out this Redhead!

From Blogger Pictures

Ryan's hair has a new "rubber" look. :) Being 11 years old is just so much fun! :)

We are having a nice relaxing weekend home.

Richard and Ryan were both in the Geography Bee yesterday at school.
Neither placed, however, Richard placed 11th out of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. :)

We are proud of both of them for always giving their all.
